What is a Quagga?
Extract and Sequence DNA from the Quagga
The first, and most significant, difficulty for the Wilson group was in obtaining a reliable set of DNA sequences from the quagga tissue.
The general steps in DNA sequencing are:
The Wilson group obtained DNA sequences for the two gene regions NADH Whatisaquagga (1 KB) dehydrogenase 1 (nd1) and cytochrome oxidase 1 (co1) from all five species. Click on the sequence image to sneak a peek. Then right-click on the zip file, choose Save the Link As ... and save the file on your desktop computer. (Please extract zip file before use)
Can you find the two gene regions in a similar genome from another mammal?
