AWC Genome ServiceThe Allan Wilson Centre Genome Service provides the following services:
Solexa Sequencing Service On-line InquiryRegister as an AWCGS user if you haven't already, then fill out our no-obligation Solexa Inquiry Form to find out what our Solexa system can do for you! Click here for our link to the AWCGS Solexa website. Illumina Sequence Analysis Workshop - Level 1This workshop will run on the Palmerston North campus of Massey University on 1 and 2 July. For more information see here. This workshop has been designed for the molecular biologist who wishes to perform basic analysis on small sets of data (i.e. a few lanes of sequences). The course will take the participant slowly through a typical receipt of sequence data from the AWC Genome Service onto basic mapping to a reference genome, then introductory assembly into contigs. Knowledge of command line processing, linux OS and sequence software operation is not assumed and these key concepts will be taught during the course. By the end of the course participants should be able to map, assemble and view their mapped and assembled data. This workshop will run on the Palmerston North campus of Massey University on 1 and 2 July. For more information see here. For enquiries regarding workshop content please contact Lesley. For questions regarding organisation please contact Susan. Solexa WorkshopThe AWC Genome Service will be co-hosting a one-day workshop and a one-day scentific meeting at the Otago Museum on 23 and 24 August. The programme for the event will focus on next generation sequencing including the Solexa, 454 and SOLiD platforms. Due to space constraints numbers will be limited. Online registration will be available soon. For more information see here. Staff of the AWCGS Director - Prof Pete Lockhart Courier bagsPrepaid courier bags will be mailed out free of charge to external domestic clients. If you require a bag, you should send an email to Joy Wood at J.R.Wood@massey.ac.nz, stating the number of courier bags to be sent. Please also state your courier address, postal address and contact phone number. Please note that no prepaid courier bags will be sent to international customers. International customers must cover their own courier costs. Also customers, both domestic and international, who are using our Solexa sequencing service will have to cover the courier costs for sending sample to our facility. International Customer InformationInternational customers when sending samples to the AWCGS ABI Sequencing and genotyping Services MUST send with your sample/s our Import Permit for importing materials of a biological nature into New Zealand. This must be attached securely to the outside of the parcel, along with written details as to the content of the parcel. New Zealand has very strict import regulations, and the import permit must be present with the sample/s. Please contact our support team to inquire about obtaining the permit. The biological import permit is updated regularly so each time you come to send samples please e-mail Lorraine to ask for the most recent permit. When you are about to send your ABI sequencing or genotyping samples, can you please e-mail Lorraine, saying that you are sending a parcel to the service. Please include in the e-mail your username and request ID number, the institute name, address and contact numbers from place you are sending the parcel from, and also the courier company you are using. You will have to cover the courier costs and also the MAF importation costs for each parcel you send. The AWCGS is sent the invoice for the MAF fees and we will pass the cost onto you.
